Thai language curriculum for children and youth in the context of Migrant Learning Centres
About This Course
This Thai language course has been developed by Tak Community College under the
Care and Recovery for Migrant Children Project of the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok
and the Office for UN Coordination for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCO Bangkok),
with support from the Government of Japan.
The course was adapted from the Thai Language Skill and Career Development Course of
Tak Community College. It is intended as part of the teaching and learning process
for learners who wish to use Thai language skills for communication in daily life.
Objectives
- To enable learners to acquire language skills for daily life and to use these skills as a foundation for learning, with emphasis on listening, speaking, reading, and writing Thai through short video clips.
- To enable learners to study independently through learning materials, encouraging them to learn Thai language skills informally at their own pace.
- To enable teachers to use this course as a component in their teaching and learning activities.
Learning Units
The Thai language course consists of 160 hours, divided into 2 units:
- Unit 1: Reading and Writing Thai — 70 hours
- Unit 2: Basic Thai for Communication — 90 hours
Who is it for?
Children and youth in the context of Migrant Learning Centres (MLCs), and learners who are interested in starting to learn Thai.
